Customized Entrepreneurship Training

The Customized Entrepreneurship Training (CET) is a two-day training targeting entrepreneur with low literacy level and/or individuals with limited business experience. Participants are taken through a condensed behavioral and mind set change programme that introduces them to the Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies (PECs) and the associated behaviors identified with successful entrepreneurs worldwide.

As the training is customized from the ETW, training methodology applied in providing ETW is employed. Accordingly, Customized Entrepreneurship Training (CET) is a practical, hands-on, attitudinal and behavioral change training program built upon adult learning principles. Much of the facilitation is done by way of case studies, games, role play, exercises and experiential sharing. High level of simplicity is maintained in order to ensure the objectives of the training is customized with the literacy level of the participants.

Participants who successfully complete the programme and fulfill the training requirements will be provided with a Certificate of Participation. The requirements include full attendance of all sessions, and successfully completing assignments throughout the 2-day training programme.

Training of Trainers (TOT)

Training of Trainers (TOT) is an approach to build the facilitation capacity of potential trainers.  This therefore involves identifying potential trainers and taking them through a series of training programs and apprenticeships to enable them competently facilitate the training of entrepreneurs.

TOT is hands on experience approach that enhance facilitation skills of the incoming trainers. It combines theoretical foundations of adult learning principles with the practical facilitation skills development apprenticeship program. The training shall follow the following arrangement.                   

Phase 1: The candidate must attend the ETW and based on his or her performances during the ETW, be recommended by the team of trainers to be considered for further training to become a trainer pending the fulfillment of the minimum educational background.

Phase 2: The recommended candidate should successfully pass the interview session conducted by the Department of Training.

Phase 3: The candidate who passed the interview session should go through apprenticeship under a certified trainer for 2 training sessions after which, if he distinguishes him/herself, he/she will be approved to attend the Trainer of Trainers program.

Phase 4: This phase will take the potential trainer through the Trainer of Trainer (TOT) program during which he is introduced to the adult learning philosophy and methodology, presentation skills, familiarization with the trainer’s manuals, exercises and case studies. They will also learn the selection and profiling system of potential candidates and how to use it for training.

Phase 5: Trainers who successfully complete this program shall be assigned four (4) facilitation sessions under the guidance of Master Trainers. They will then run additional six (6) sessions successfully with minimal supervision to be certified as National Trainers pending the successful examination program overseen by the certified national trainer, master trainer, or international trainer.

Once certified as national trainer, a trainer can develop his/her career to the next levels pending the fulfillment of trainers’ certification guidelines. At all phases of trainers’ certification, EDC, in partnership with partners, will provide candidates who successfully complete the programme and fulfill the training requirements with a Certificate of Participation.

 

Business Development Support Providers Training (BDSPT)


This training emanates from the assertion that the success of entrepreneurship development initiative depends so much on post-trainings up port that is provided to the entrepreneurs. The development of entrepreneurship capacity and growth of enterprises is further enhanced by the addition of management skills training/consulting training in the form of customized business advisory services.

To that end, EDC recruits and trains business development advisors within geographical reach of the entrepreneurs who have successfully attended ETW. Upon successful completion of the training programme, the entrepreneurs are eligible to receive Business Development Support Providers Capacity Improvement Training provided by the experienced senior business development advisors.

The training program lasts six days and is an interactive classroom session that draws from lessons learned in business as well as providing mentorship to clients. The class room session will be coupled with a weeklong mentorship programme during which the trainees will be assigned clients under the supervision of a senior business development advisor.

The content of the topic includes basic business management skills such as business diagnostic and health check, guide to business planning and review, business counselling, sub-contracting opportunities, financial analysis and management. The training shall follow the following arrangement.

Phase 2: The recommended candidate should successfully pass the interview session conducted by the Department of Business Development Services Provision.

Phase 3: The candidate who passed the interview session should go through a five day long in class training on the principles of business development services provision.

Phase 4: The candidate who successfully completed the in-class-room training will participate in the actual mentorship program under the supervision of a senior BDS provider.
