This year’s theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) is “Be Bold for Change” – a Call on the masses or call on yourself to help forge a better working world - a more inclusive, gender equal world. In celebration of IWD, EDC hosted our 10th Innovation for Development Breakfast Meeting focusing on women innovators. The guest speaker for the discussion was Mr. Benjamin Kumpf, Global Innovation Advisor for UNDP based in New York. The participants included women innovators and entrepreneurs.

Business Development Training

Entrepreneurs, business advisors and soon-to-be startup owners participated in custom two-day training sessions that were organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC Ethiopia) in its offices in Addis Ababa and Mekelle. This follows-on from a partnership agreed between Microsoft 4Afrika and UNDP Ethiopia in 2014 aimed at connecting locally established businesses and startups with knowledge and skills delivered through Microsoft 4 Afrika’s Build Your Business (BYB) trainings.

Youth Entrepreneurship Training in the Oromia Region

The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) Oromia Regional Office recently embarked on a series of training sessions for youth entrepreneurship in the region. Innovation for Development – 6th Breakfast Meeting

The Entrepreneurship Development Center in Ethiopia together with The United Nations Development Programme is hosting a series of breakfast meetings on Innovation for Development. These meetings provide a platform for social innovators, entrepreneurs, and academia, government and development partners to exchange ideas and build networks. The breakfast meeting gives opportunity for stakeholders and innovators to discuss how the power of innovation can be harnessed for development in Ethiopia.
