On March 24, EDC was invited by Addis Ababa Institute of Technology to host a half day workshop on entrepreneurial behaviors and attitude for the graduating class of Biomedical Engineering students. The objective of the event was to inspire students toward entrepreneurial attitude and activities in order to encourage their participation in the newly established Technology and Business Incubation initiative.
EDC and Oxfam Ethiopia’s Empower Youth for Work (EYW), a project funded by IKEA Foundation, signed a MOU to work together on empowering youth in rural and semi-urban areas of Ethiopia, specifically Arsi and West Arsi Zones of Oromia and Sitti and Faafen Zones of the Somali regions.
EDC has been recognized by Wollo University for its entrepreneurship capacity development of instructors and a series of Entrepreneurship Trainings that were conducted for this year's prospective graduating students. EDC has a long standing partnership with the University, collaborating on past years Global Entrepreneurship Week events and also facilitating entrepreneurship trainings.
On March 8, a strong group of 26 women entrepreneurs gathered at the EDC headquarters in Addis Ababa to commemorate International Women’s Day under the 2018 theme #PressforProgress. The women entrepreneurs came from various industries such as leather, printing press, daycare, and hospital to services and even construction – a mostly male-dominated industry.
During the Bahir Dar City Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association (BCCSA) annual review meeting, EDC was recognized for the Entrepreneurship Training Workshop (ETW) as well as Customised Training (CT) that was provided to 53 sectoral association members.
Amhara Women Entrepreneurs Association (AWEA) has held its General Regular Assembly Meeting in Bahir Dar from 2-3, July 2017 where EDC’s Amhara Office was recognized for the trainings and business development support services that was provided to women entrepreneurs across the region.
On 29, June EDC – Ethiopia had the pleasure to host Ato Benyam Bisrat, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Jupiter International Hotels, as part of the Executive Entrepreneurship Programme. EDC’s Executive Entrepreneurship Programme offers seminars where seasoned successful local entrepreneurs are invited to speak to startup and existing entrepreneurs in order to share their experiences as well as industry best practices.
The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) Oromia Regional Office recently embarked on a series of training sessions for youth entrepreneurship in the region. The trainings took place from March until May, 2017 and served a total of 6,400 youth entrepreneurs with various types of entrepreneurship training programs delivered by EDC.
